Highland Park Improvement Club Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026
Highland Park Improvement Club (HPIC) is a Washington nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) community center located at 1116 SW Holden St, Seattle, WA 98106. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly when you:
Join or renew a membership
Make a donation or sponsor an event
Register or RSVP for an event
Subscribe to our newsletter
Volunteer with us
Buy something from our online store or at an event
Contact us through our website or by email
This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and your membership, donation, and event history. Payment card details are handled by our payment processors and are not stored by HPIC.
Our website is hosted on Squarespace, which sets cookies needed for the site to work and collects basic visitor statistics such as pages viewed and approximate location. Social media content embedded on our site (Facebook and Instagram) may set their own cookies, governed by those companies’ privacy policies. We do not use advertising trackers.
How we use it
We use your information to:
Manage your membership and send renewal reminders
Process and acknowledge donations, including tax receipts
Communicate about events, programs, and the rebuilding of our community hall
Send our newsletter, if you subscribed
Coordinate volunteers
Fulfill store orders
Phone calls
Once a year, in December, HPIC board members and volunteers call current and former members as part of our annual member fundraising drive. These calls are placed by a person, one at a time, from HPIC’s club phone number. We do not use autodialers or prerecorded messages, and we do not call people who have no membership relationship with HPIC. If you would rather not receive these calls, email contact@hpic1919.org and we will mark your record so you are not called.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, and only for that purpose:
Little Green Light, our member and donor database
Mailchimp, for newsletter delivery
Squarespace, for website hosting and forms
Square and Stripe, for payments
Twilio, for our club phone number
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email
Ask not to be called by emailing contact@hpic1919.org
Request a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing contact@hpic1919.org
We keep donation records as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, and we keep membership records for as long as you are a member or former member so we can recognize your history with the club.
Children
Our website and communications are directed at adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent version.
