What is an Email Group?

An Email Group (sometimes called a listserve) is a service that allows you to send an email to a single address and have it distributed to everyone in the group. Our group is set up with YahooGroups, which is a free service which is paid for by advertising attached to the emails sent through it.

Guidelines

Please use good judgment when sending emails to the group. Please do not use it to send out items that do not pertain to the neighborhood. Do not use it for sales. Also please be cautious on what you post, as you do not know who might be reading it.

Do I have to join Yahoo?

No. You can join our email list without having a signon to Yahoo. To get the most benefits, it is recommended that you do join YahooGroups (which is free), as being a member allows you certain advantages.

   * View previous emails sent to the group. You don't have to save them yourself and you      can always go back to review discussions that took place months or years ago.
   * Change your email address. When you change your email address, you don't have to      rely on the group administrator to make the change for you.
   * Change your delivery options. You can choose to get daily summaries or view only on      the web.
   * Allows you to log on anywhere and view messages. If you are traveling, you can stop      at an internet cafe' to see what is happening back home.
   * Access to other Yahoo services.

How do I join Yahoo?

Go to Yahoo Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/) and choose "Sign Up".

After completing this, go to Riverview Neighborhood Council, choose "Join This Group!" and follow the directions.

What's the easiest way to join the email list?

Simply send an email to: RiverviewNC-subscribe@YahooGroups.com

This process is handled by an automated process, so don't add a subject or text as you will just be wasting your time. You will receive within the day an email request from YahooGroups that you reply to that email to confirm that you wish to join. You must do this reply before you are actually added to the group.

How do I send an email to the group?

Once you belong to the group, you can email the group by sending your email to:

RiverviewNC@YahooGroups.com

You will know when your email has been distributed, as you will receive a copy as well.
