What is a BrainDance?

Developed by Anne Green Gilbert, the BrainDance is a series of exercises which
are comprised of eight fundamental movement patterns t we move
in the first year of life. Research has shown that these patterns are crucial to
the wiring of our central nervous system. As babies, we did these movements
on our tummies on the floor. However, cycling through these patterns sitting
or standing has been found to be beneficial. This “dance” is an excellent full body
and brain warm-up for children and adults in all settings.

About Dorienne:

I graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Dance. I’m classically trained and began my studies in the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus (Ballet) were I completed with merit all exams.  I then went onto explore the world of modern dance and had the opportunity to perform great historical works and ground breaking works by local choreographers. I have presented my own choreographic works in 12 Minutes Max and Velocity’s Under Construction.  During that time I started teaching children and adult tap and ballet classes.  I have taught at various studios around the Seattle area off and on for the past 10 years, and I’m currently teaching for Cornish Preparatory School.
