Hey Neighbors!
Join us for a walk to the Delridge Days event:

Saturday, June 5th – 10:00am

We’ll start our walk at the Highland Park Improvement Club (1116 SW Holden) at 10:00 AM, so arrive by 9:45 so we can get organized.  Wear your Highland Park Shirt!!! If you don’t have one, we’ll have them available to purchase for $20, all proceeds go to the HPIC building fund.

There will be points of interest along the way that we’ll be stopping by.  We’ll be taking pictures and picking up trash along the way, because there are prizes that we can win!!!

5 Categories to Win:

  • Groups with the largest number of walkers
  • Groups taking the nicest photo of the Delridge area
  • Groups taking photos of the most distressed area needing special attention
  • Groups that pick up the most litter on their journey to the event (we”ll provide bags and grabbers)
  • Groups that visit the most Delridge “Points of Interest” (we’ll provide you with a location map, and bus passes if needed)

Results from our 2010 Wine For Our Times Event

May 6th, 2010 Comments off

We had a great time at our 2nd annual WINE FOR OUR TIMES event!

See Dina’s 100+ pictures here.

We got to know more neighbors and tasted some good wines – and some not so good ones – that won’t break the bank.  We were able to raise more money than we hoped for the Building Fund of the Highland Park Improvement Club.  Meeting our fundraising goal, combined with the opportunity to meet new people in our community, makes this event a very successful one for us. Thanks to all who were a part of it!

Our TOP THREE wines:

#1        Trader Joes Reserve Syrah, Paso Robles 2007
#2        Haystack Needle Syrah
#3        Novella Zinfandel, Paso Robles

Wines that made it to the final taste off:
J Lohr 7 Oaks Cabernet, Paso Robles 2007
Little Penguin Shiraz
Cline Viognier 2008
Menage a Trois Red 2008
Trader Joes Coastal Syrah 2007
Yosemite Road Cabernet
GR Shiraz 2007
Primitivo Puglia 2005

Honorable Mentions from each table:
Trader Joes Coastal Syrah (another one!)
Cline Viognier 2008 (another one!)
Haystack Needle Syrah (another one!)
Garnacha de Fuego Old Vines 2008
Knoll Haven Merlot
Dog House Merlot
McManis Pinot Noir
Arcachon Cellars Pinot Noir/Willamette Valley
Estancia/Monterey Pinot Noir 2008
Zeller Schwarze katz white wine
Bridgeview Blue Moon Riesling 2007

Thank you to all of our guests that joined us this year, to the table captains who played a big part in coordination of the event, to the merchants who donated our prizes and raffle items, to all who helped prepare the wonderful food and desserts, and to those who helped plan the event!

We all had such a good time planning this event, and look forward to seeing you all next year.  We’d love to hear your feedback – what worked, what didn’t, and suggestions for improvement – so we can make the event even better next year.

Cheers!
